Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Westbrook Software LLC, doing business as Meal Monster, collects, uses, and discloses consumer health data. It supplements the Meal Monster Privacy Policy and provides U.S. consumer health privacy disclosures.
Privacy requests: support@mealmonster.app
Consumer health data we collect
- Age or birth date, sex or gender selection, height, current weight, goal weight, weight goal and pace, calorie and nutrient targets, and related nutrition calculations.
- Meal descriptions, foods, portions, calories, nutrients, saved foods, meal times, barcode products, foods you choose to avoid, appetite, cravings, routine, and eating patterns.
- Weigh-ins, activity or workout records, and optional Apple Health steps, workouts, workout source, workout duration, and active energy.
- Voice recordings, transcripts, or food photos you submit for food logging.
- Inferences about nutrition targets, food patterns, progress, activity, or routine generated for requested features.
- If you use Friends, the current-day consumed calorie total and base daily calorie goal you separately choose to share with a specific friend.
When you choose Photo AI, Meal Monster transiently processes the selected food photo to identify visible food and estimate nutrition. The raw food photo is not stored by Meal Monster in cloud storage after the request completes. A saved meal may retain attachment metadata and the reviewed nutrition estimate. Optional profile photos are account content and are not used to infer health.
Sources
We collect consumer health data from you when you answer onboarding questions, log food, record weight or workouts, speak a food log, choose a food photo, edit an estimate, or contact support; from your device and Apple Health after permission; from your use and corrections; from providers and public food databases returning requested transcription, product, or nutrient results; and from calculations or inferences needed to provide requested features.
Why we collect and use it
We collect and use consumer health data to provide, personalize, secure, and support requested food logging, nutrition estimate, Apple Health import, progress, export, deletion, and related features. Limited content-free metadata is used to enforce AI limits, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and protect accounts.
We do not use consumer health data for advertising, targeted advertising, marketing profiling, sale, or unrelated data mining.
Consumer health data we share
- Supabase may process account-linked nutrition, activity, AI-consent, and related data for authentication, storage, database access, and server functions.
- OpenAI receives the meal text, voice recording, transcript, or food photo you choose to submit after affirmative AI data-sharing consent, plus limited request metadata, for transcription and nutrition estimates.
- Apple Health provides authorized steps, workouts, workout source, workout duration, and active energy. Meal Monster does not write to Apple Health.
- Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central receive barcode values or normalized food queries. We do not intentionally send your Meal Monster user ID.
- Expo receives push-token, device, delivery, and general notification content required for enabled reminders. Launch notifications do not contain exact calorie, weight, meal, or Apple Health values.
- An accepted friend receives your chosen first name, equipped Meal Monster skin, and current logging streak. That friend receives your current-day consumed calorie total and base daily calorie goal only after you separately turn on calorie sharing for them. Calorie sharing is off by default and directional. Meal names, food items, macros, weight, email, phone, Apple Health, and workouts are not included.
- Providers involved in security, legal compliance, or a corporate transaction may receive relevant data only as permitted by law and subject to applicable obligations.
Meal Monster has no affiliates with which it shares consumer health data at launch. No third party collects consumer health data through Meal Monster over time across unrelated websites or services for targeted advertising.
Consent and withdrawal
Meal Monster collects and shares consumer health data as necessary for requested features. Before sending meal text, voice audio, transcripts, or food photos to OpenAI, Meal Monster presents a separate versioned notice and records affirmative consent. Turn AI sharing off in Privacy & Terms; turn off calorie sharing for any friend or remove that friend in Friends, which also removes their widget access; change Apple Health permissions in Apple Health or device settings; email support; or delete your account to stop applicable future collection or sharing. A feature that requires the information may no longer work after collection or sharing stops.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may confirm whether Meal Monster collects, shares, or sells consumer health data; access it and applicable recipient contact information; correct it; withdraw future consent; request deletion by Meal Monster and applicable recipients; and appeal a refusal.
Use Export My Data or Delete Account in the app, or email support@mealmonster.app. We authenticate requests, respond within applicable deadlines, and do not unlawfully discriminate for exercising a right. To appeal, reply to the denial with the subject “Privacy Request Appeal” and explain why the decision should change.
Deletion from active systems begins with confirmation. To prevent account recreation from resetting usage limits, Meal Monster may retain a server-keyed one-way account code and minimal content-free AI usage events for up to 31 days. This record contains no email, account ID, provider identifier, meal, prompt, photo, voice recording, or AI result. Backup deletion may be delayed until restoration or deletion from those systems and will not exceed six months unless another period is legally permitted or required. We notify applicable processors and recipients when required.
No sale and no health-location geofencing
Meal Monster does not sell consumer health data. Meal Monster does not geofence an in-person health care facility to identify or track a person, collect consumer health data, or send health-related messages or advertising.
Changes
We identify material changes with a new effective date and provide notice or obtain affirmative consent when required before adding health-data categories, recipients, or materially new purposes.
